Thank you for journeying with us through the inaugural issue of The Land, Food, and Freedom Journal. We hope the stories, art, and reflections shared here encourage you as much as they have inspired us. This journal was born out of a deep desire to honor and uplift the Black agrarian experience, food sovereignty, and the myriad ways our communities use land and food as tools of resistance and liberation.
Our dream is for The Land, Food, and Freedom Journal to be a space where Black growers, farmers, scholars, and land stewards can unite to share knowledge, art, and ideas that feed and sustain us. We believe that our work is not only about food and land but about our freedom, health, and future generations’ well-being. This journal is one way we aim to build toward that future.
We are excited to continue this journey with you. New issues will be published twice yearly, in the spring and fall. Your voice and experiences are essential to this movement, so we extend an invitation to submit your work for consideration in future issues. We’re open to all mediums. Your contributions will help make this journal what it is: a living, breathing document of our collective work toward Black food justice and sovereignty. We are deeply grateful for your support. Together, we are planting seeds of transformation that will continue to grow for generations.
