Shanqua is a storyteller, born-and-bred in Georgia, and deeply inspired by its rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Gay is a daughter of the American South. Gay’s work blends Black Southern introspection with spirituality to tell stories about women and girls. Through the lens of Black girlhood and womanhood, Gay explores identity, culture, and power, reclaiming space through storytelling and personal mythology.
